What Happens in Vegas…

I fished on 34″ of ice yesterday, and the daytime high tomorrow is –18F (wind chill included).  ARM’s Spring Executive Forum in Las Vegas can’t get here fast enough for me.

The  Forum is a great opportunity for owners and executive management to reconnect and network.  In my experience, this is a very warm and welcoming group that openly discusses pressing business issues, and the strategies that have been deployed to address the issues.  I normally have a few key take-aways, but this year I am expecting much more.

We have a great agenda this year that includes a tour of Zappos.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with Zappos, they are an online shoe retailer.  Let me take that back. Zappos is a company that has created and leveraged their unique culture to achieve extraordinary results…and they happen to sell shoes online.  Their core values have been successful in engaging employees while also making them better people.  Based on the structure and efforts instilled in their structure, Zappos ranked 38th in Fortune’s ranking of the Best Companies to Work For in 2013.  Additionally, as of 1/2/14, they had more than 31,000 applicants vying for 130 open jobs.

If you aren’t interested yet, keep in mind that Zappos just announced that they will be getting rid of managers and titles in 2014, replacing them with a series of overlapping, self-governing “circles”.

Remember you won’t get to experience this if you’re not there.

The Zappos tour is only a fraction of the program planned for the 2014 ARM Spring Executive Forum. You can learn more about the program here.

Stay warm and we will see you in Vegas!
