Two weeks ago, ARM made our members aware of a draft standard for Rainwater Harvesting Systems being developed by the International Code Council that would address the materials and design of potable and non-potable rainwater tanks.
ARM organized a teleconference for members to learn about the standard from Michael Cudahy, Technical Director at CM Services (ARM’s management firm). Mr. Cudahy shared his concerns about the standard with a dozen members who joined the call and provided their own feedback.
Based on that feedback, ARM submitted nine comments and proposed changes which you can review here. One of the concerns shared by Michael Cudahy and our members was the absence of references to thermoplastic tanks, which could lead builders to believe that they did not meet building standards. Our comments address that issue and a variety of others.
